This is a sound essay comprised of five 1-minute recordings. Seagulls and other birds are present throughout. Airplanes are heard at 2:07 and 4:22. Carpenters and other workmen are heard more or less throughout. Cars and trucks pass by frequently; trucks beeping as they back up are also heard. It was a foggy day, so a foghorn can be heard occasionally. Recorded on sony cybershot dsc-hx9v. Location: portland, maine (usa). Date: october 25, 2022.

This clip was a test for my new roland cs-10em binaural microphones. It was recorded from my balcony. I live in city so you will hear traffic, cars and motorcycle, people chatting and a barking dog. For this clip i used my zoom h1n (96khz/24bit) with roland cs-10em binaural microphones. The sound was no post-processed.

Fireworks recorded amidst the buildings of an apartment complex. Lowpassed around 1khz. Slightly expanded dynamic range. I cut as many incidental noises as i could hear on my headphones (cars, neighbors, etc) but there's still some residual hum from an electrical box that was nearby as well as wind. I was out recording some sounds late one evening, and i randomly heard this, which i can assume is a gunshot. Not much processing was done to this sound, except some noise removal and pitch shift. Feel free to use this whenever, wherever, and however you want. This ain't called freesound for nothing. :).

This is a section of a recording i did when a school nearby had a field day. There's a decent part in the middle, where the wind sound is practically gone. I used some filters to take out the wind sound as much as possible, but the high end whistling of the wind is still a bit audible. Feel free to use this in anything!.

An atmospheric and mostly mellow walking recording in lower east side, nyc. There are many metal access doors to the streetside businesses that are built into the sidewalk and that is the banging that you hear as people walk over them. Clips also has a few snips in it.

Standing on the east side of michigan avenue near ontario street, chicago, 7/16/16 at 10:07pm. Lots of passing traffic, squealing brakes, distant voices, distant sirens. A busker in the middle distance is playing his recognizable clarinet licks. Around 3:14 a group of motorcycle riders pass revving their engines. Edited to remove potentially copyright infringing music (captured playing out of passing cars and motorbikes). Recorded with two countryman emw lavaliers in a head-mounted binaural arrangement, into a tascam dr-40 recorder. Processed to remove excessive bass rumble and compensate for eq curve of lavaliers.

I've had this saved for a while, and haven't really done anything with it (yet). How it was made: i took an old music box i got for christmas a few years ago, recorded it (obviously), slowed it down a little bit (it originally plays in g, now it plays in g-flat), and added reverb. The reverb plugin i use is called ambience. (it's really frickin' good. ).
